Abstract
Digital skills are an essential element for access to employment and active participation in contemporary society. The European Union recognized their importance as early as 2006, including them among the key competences for lifelong learning. Later, the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp) defined five fundamental areas: data literacy, communication and collaboration, content creation, safety, and problem-solving. This article presents a comparative analysis of the evolution of these skills in Spain and the European Union (EU-27) during the 2021–2025 period, as well as the specific demands of the Spanish business sector for 2025. The results show a significant correlation between official metrics and business needs, although gaps remain in advanced skills such as cybersecurity, programming, and cloud technologies.
